Picot Arch Border

Please note that the picture I am using is from my previous page and that the watermark is obviously showing this. I am in the process of changing over that page to this and haven't updated my photos as of yet thank you.

 

This border was created on a granny square blanket but would work equally as good on any other blanket. Pattern below works in multiples of 9. I have used Stylecraft DK in cream for the border on this blanket. But any colour will work and be just as effective.

What you need -

• 4mm hook
• DK yarn
• Scissors
• Darning needle



Abbreviations

SS - Slip Stitch
DC - Double Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
TC - Treble Crochet
CH - Chain


Pattern


Row 1 -

Do HDC in each stitch.
On each corner do 2 HDC, 2CH, 2HDC

Row 2 -
*1HDC, CH1 (skip the stitch in previous row creating a larger gap) Repeat until you have 3 stitches remaining from the corner do 1 HDC in each stitch with 2 HDC, 2CH, 2 HDC in each corner followed by 3 HDC in next 3 stitches chain and repeat from *

Row 3 -

Starting from the chain space after the 3 HDC on the corners in previous row.

9 CH , SS in the 4th Chain space. And repeat until you reach the 3 HDC before the corner in the previous row.
6 CH, SS into corner space, 6 CH, SS into the Chain space after the 3 HDC from previous row.
Repeat until the whole round is complete.

Row 4 -

2 DC, 2 HDC, 1 TC that goes into the 2nd space in row 2 (this creates an anchor), 2 HDC, 2 DC. SS into the space between each 9 CH and previous row. Creating an arch shape.

On corner CH's do 2DC, 3 HDC in corner space do 3 TC. Followed by 3 HDC, 2 DC SS into previous row to last.
Repeat until all row is completed


Row 5 -

DC into the 4 previous rows stitches
CH 3, SS into the top of the DC stitch creating a picot. DC into the next 3 stitches and SS into the HDC, Ch Row. Completing the full arch.
Repeat until the corner.
On corners 7 DC, CH 3, SS into the top of the DC stitch creating a picot. Then 6 DC into each stitch. SS into the HDC, Ch
Row. Completing the full arch.

Use Darning Needle to sew in any loose ends.
